DULUTH - The main U.S. Post Office in Duluth was closed for about six hours Monday after a woman wearing a gas mask walked into the building.

Police received the report of the undetermined threat at 10:24 a.m. Monday.  The police department said a woman wearing a gas mask and carrying a duffel bag and box entered the post office, which is at 2800 W. Michigan Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Witnesses gathered near near the building for much of the day, as officials investigated.

According to authorities, the bag and box she was carrying contained personal items, but did not offer any more details.

Police say no threat was made, but say an investigation into what happened is underway.  A hazardous materials team was on the scene for much of the day.

A 38-year-old Duluth woman is being held at the St. Louis County Jail on possible misdemeanor charges.  Police say the charges maybe upgraded before they are officially filed.

The post office reopened about 4:30 p.m.
