  • Sunday, May 19 – Fairview Range Medical Center is holding a special memorial service dedicated to families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of pregnancy or newborn loss. Regardless of whether the loss occurred recently or years ago, all are welcome in this time of remembrance and support. The event will be held at Hull Rust Room (West Entrance), Fairview Range Medical Center, 750 East 34th Street in Hibbing at 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 21 – Thursday, May 23 – Mesabi Musical Theatre is preparing encore performances of its successful winter musical, “Always…Patsy Cline,” to help promote their auditions for their summer production of “Ruthless! The Musical.” Auditions for “Ruthless!” will be held at Lincoln Elementary School, 1114 E. 23rd St. in Hibbing on May 21-23 at 6 p.m. Anyone can audition.   • Wednesday, May 22 – Community Connect Event at the Hibbing Memorial Arena, 400 E 23rd Street in Hibbing from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Community members facing homelessness or financial challenges are invited to attend this free event. Organized in collaboration with local partners and inspired by the national Project Homeless Connect. Arrowhead Transit is offering free rides to and from the Community Connect event. There will be free food, clothing and hygiene items, hair trimming, crisis information, housing support, children and family services, mental health resources and more.   • Saturday May 25 – 27th Annual DGFS PLANT SALE – Sponsored by the Duluth Garden Flower Society at the Duluth Rose Garden Parking Lot. 8:00-10:00 am or until sold out. The event will be held rain or shine. Get great deals on prerennials, annuals, native plants, orchids, Heirloom vegetables, roses, herbs, and cool garden art treasures. It’s a great variety of plants that thrive in the Twin Ports and surrounding area. Prices – many ranging from $2-$10.00. Talk with experts. Bring boxes, wagons or carts to carry.   • Now through July 18 – Registration is open for the Mac Sport & Marine’s 12th annual golf scramble: Socks for Survivors at Nemadji Golf course, 5. N 58th St., Superior, WI. on Thursday, July 25. – Rain or shine! Team check-in begins at 8 a.m. with shotgun start at 9 a.m. Early bird entry fee and registration deadline through Monday, July 18. $100/person, $400/team (4 person team) – Register online at casda.org. Fee includes green fees, cart, lunch, multiple prize opportunities, sock contest and live music by Ramblin’ Rog with more afternoon fun in the Club House after golfing wraps up.   • Sunday, June 2 – Twin Ports Bloody Mary Battle & Brunch in the Great Hall of the St. Louis County Depot from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Minnesota Ballet. Ticket $40 in advance, $50 at the door. Includes: Bloody Marys, brunch and live music. Hosted by MidCoast Catering Co. and guest mixologists. (Must be 21 years of age or older.)
  • June 4 – 29 – The Third Annual Variations: Fiber Arts show is taking center stage at the Washburn Cultural Center, 1 East Bayfield St., Washburn (WCC) galleries throughout the month of June. Variations emphasizes works created for aesthetic, thought provoking, educational and emotional or spiritual value, distinguishing it from fiber works created primarily for function. For further information about this invitational show, contact the center 715-373-5591, or email  Washburnculturalcenter@gmail.com.   All are invited to attend an opening reception on Thursday, June 6, 5-7:00 pm.   Center hours are Tuesday-Sunday noon to 4:00 pm.

  • Tuesday, June 11 – St. Luke’s will hold a cancer lecture called ‘The Role of Genetics in Cancer Development and Treatment’ at the Depot from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. While genetics can play a role in developing cancer, thanks to breakthroughs in research, we can now also use genetics to predict cancer’s progression and create tailored treatments for patients. Genetics can also be used for people with a cancer diagnosis or family history of cancer to learn about their risks of developing cancer and personalize their screening plans. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Panel begins at 6 p.m. The event is in the first-floor theater of the Depot, 506 W. Michigan St. Enter through the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center entrance on the west side. A parking lot is available off W. Michigan St. and S. 6th Ave. W. and along Michigan Ave. We thank St. Luke’s Foundation for generously sponsoring this event and the cost of parking. RSVP is requested but not required.
