The overnight and early morning brought the worst of this beast to Northland, but fortunately things have since quieted down. The National Weather Service has canceled the Blizzard Warning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect across the Northland until 6 pm.
The bulk of snow from this system will have fallen by this evening when weather headlines expire. However, we won’t be done with this beast altogether until it finally moves east and takes the snow with it. Occasional snow showers will continue to bring light accumulations Thursday night, Friday, Friday night, and Saturday.
Winds will be lighter Friday, then a breezy northwest wind kicks in on the backside of the system Saturday to direct lake effect snow chances along the South Shore snowbelt. Snow there may linger into Sunday morning, then we should finally enjoy a break from snowfall as a region.
The weather pattern remains unsettled next week with a few opportunities for lighter snow accumulations, possibly as soon as Monday. It will otherwise be much cooler. The mild conditions that have made this snow so wet and heavy linger through Friday, then we feel the cool down through the weekend. By Monday and lasting through the middle of next week, highs stay in single digits and lows fall below zero.
