Esko girls basketball holds off Virginia to advance to 7AA semifinals

On Monday the Esko girls basketball team held off Virginia 47-43 in the Section 7AA quarterfinals.
Jayden Karppinen led the charge for the Eskomos scoring 23 points, while Rian Aune led the Blue Devils with 15 points.
Esko (20-7) advances to face Pierz (22-6) in the 7AA semifinals Wednesday at 7pm at Hermantown High School. Virginia closes out their season 17-11 overall.
