Unseasonably cool conditions have arrived to the Northland, and it only gets colder from here as we head through the middle of the week. Monday morning temps begin chilly in single digits below to above zero. We climb only into the upper single digits to teens as a region as we head through the day. Snow arrives in the afternoon and tapers off overnight. A widespread 1-3” is possible with the North Shore seeing localized amounts up to 5”. This leads to a Winter Weather Advisory for Lake and Cook County from 4 pm today until 12 pm tomorrow.

Tuesday will be dry with cold taking the focus. By Tuesday night, temps fall to minus teens with wind chills between -15 and -30 expected across the Northland. Highs on Wednesday will stay near and below zero.

Another winter storm is looking to impact the Midwest later this week. The Northland is on the western edge of impacts. More agreement is needed before we can get into detail, but as of now, snow would begin on Wednesday and continue through Friday with more widespread plowable snow. Winds will be strong and out of the northwest, directing lake effect along the South Shore where snow may linger through the weekend. The South Shore would see the greatest snow in the region from this system.
