Duluth declares snow emergency
The City of Duluth has declared a snow emergency, which will take effect at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22.
A snow emergency means residents may not park on designated snow emergency routes, giving city snowplows room to clear both sides of the road overnight. Vehicles remaining on snow emergency routes after 9 p.m. may be ticketed or towed.
Snow emergency routes are marked with signs and are also shown in a map on the city website.

The city said the snow emergency was declared based on the cumulative effect of Monday’s snowfall and more snow expected Tuesday.

The National Weather Service received reports of between 6 and 17 inches of snow in the Duluth area. The latest official reading from the Duluth National Weather Service office was 8.9 inches as of noon Tuesday.
During the snow emergency, residents must park on other streets, private property, or in one of eight designated parking lots. They include four lots in Canal Park, two lots near Wade Stadium and Wheeler Field in West Duluth, or two lots on West Griggs Place at the University of Minnesota Duluth (Lots N1 and N2). Check the city’s snow emergency page for a map showing the exact locations of the lots where parking is allowed.
Normal parking rules will resume at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23.
