For almost 50 years, Russ Francisco has been helping fishermen enjoy their sport. And someone nominated him for a big honor, for all of his hard work.

He’s going to be inducted into the Minnesota Fishing Hall of Fame.

“It was a surprise, you don’t expect that. I’ve been doing this all my life, but I’m not a professional fisherman. To get inducted, that’s pretty nice,” he told us from the shop. “The most fun I’ve had is talking to all of the people who’ve called about this.”

Francisco said he’s going to be 71 this year, and he started this business when he was 24.

He’s starting to take more time off to fish himself. Or at least is trying to.

The induction ceremony is coming up in September.

Jeff Sundin from the Grand Rapids area is also being inducted in this class.
