UMD women’s hockey clinch home ice in playoffs with sweep over Mankato
The No.7 University of Minnesota Duluth women’s hockey team swept their weekend road series against Minnesota State University, Mankato with a 1-0 shootout win.
This game marked the Bulldogs 10th shutout of the season, eight of which are under graduate student goaltender Emma Soderberg which marks a single season best.
She is also now just one shutout shy of tying the program record with 19, while becoming just the second player in history to have eight or more clean sheets in a season.
The game entered overtime 0-0 before MSU scored, the goal however was nullified due to interference.
The subsequent shootout was won with a goal from Maggie Flaherty.
With the extra WCHA point the Bulldogs secured WCHA first round playoff ice at AMSOIL Arena beginning February 25th.
