Creating a cozy space for the winter months ahead

We spend a lot of time in our homes over the winter months, and Aubrey DeBettignies from The Altered Abode has some ideas for how to make our spaces cozy between the holidays and the spring.
“It’s just so cold and dark here in the winter for such a long time that it’s really just bringing in light and warmth and texture and coziness just to kind of like, get you through those cold, dark months,” she said.
She thinks about transitional items that might be in your holiday decor but can stay up longer.
- Winter greenery: Bring in some seasonal greens for a smooth transition.
- Artwork: Swap prints for winter scenes.
- Lighting: Change light bulbs for warmer tones or place twinkle lights on shelves or in jars.
- Blankets: Have cozy blankets available in baskets or stacked on shelves.
- Candles and scents: Light a candle or incense or diffuse a cozy, woodsy scent.
She has two blog posts on The Altered Abode to help you find cozy decor and printable artwork.
