BIPOC Business Showcase: Cheesecake & Company

There’s plenty of food at the 3rd annual Northland BIPOC Business Showcase this weekend, and Cheesecake & Company will provide some sweets.
Ashley and Juann Woodard are the couple behind it. Ashley was pregnant with her fifth child when the idea for the business came about.
“I was craving cheesecake,” she said. “I was about to have a mental breakdown because I’m like, I need to finish this cheesecake, but because my stomach shrunk, I could feel really sick if I ate too much.”
She discovered that cheesecake kept well in Mason jars. She thought it could make a good business. Juann said he was on board and “down for the eating part.”
Cheesecake & Company offers 16 different flavors. Ashley says it’s COVID-friendly for catering orders because the desserts are in individual portions.

The BIPOC Business Showcase goes from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at The Depot in Duluth.
