Mountain-Iron-Buhl junior girl’s basketball superstar Jordan Zubich announced her commitment to play college basketball at DI school, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Only a junior, Zubich already ranks third in Minnesota girl’s players in the 2024 class.
Zubich chose UNC after narrowing down her final list to six teams earlier this year, with Creighton, Minnesota, Ohio State, Nebraska and Utah the others in the fold.
“Being from a small town I think it wasn’t just my decision, it was the whole community because I know most of them will probably end up coming to my games in North Carolina,” said Zubich.
She made her decision Sunday in the MIB high school auditorium in front of teammates, family and friends.
“It’s just really emotional overall. I mean, probably happy, sad, excited, all of them. The team that I’m going to [UNC] did a really good job of telling me who’s coming in before me and who’s coming in after me and that they don’t have any shooters coming in. That’s why they were really heavily recruiting me,” she added.
Jordan’s Rangers squad is the top-ranked Class A team in Minnesota thanks in part to her 28.8 Points per game. Which is among the best in the state through all classes.
“UNC is going to help me grow other aspects of my game on and off the court,” concluded Zubich.
