The busy University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team began their three game week with a commanding 5-1 win at St. Cloud State University on Tuesday.

Bringing in plenty of mid-week game-play experience from her time in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), fifth year forward Elizabeth Giguere tallied three points against the Huskies fueling their strong start this week.

"Her viewpoint on mid-week games was really valuable to our group," head coach Maura Crowell said. "She was really excited to play and got our group really excited to play. Said a few things to the team at the end of Mondays’ practice that got them really jacked up about it, so I think that was important."

A strong three goal second period against St. Cloud laid a solid foundation for their upcoming road series in University of Wisconsin.

The Bulldogs suffered two close losses to the Badgers in their just third series of this season. However now 17-8 overall, fifth ranked UMD feels all dialed in.

"We were pumped just to get another game in, that’s what we practice for," said senior forward Gabbie Hughes. "Getting to have a little more fun on that night and go into the weekend, I think everyone’s feeling good and super excited to get two more games in the week."

Puck drop at fourth ranked Wisconsin Friday is set for 7:01pm.
