On Thursday, University of Minnesota Duluth men’s and women’s basketball teams picked up major awards as they start their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) tournament quarterfinals.
Brooke Olson was named the NSIC North player of the year. She leads the team averaging over 21 points a game and team-high seven rebounds. It’s the fourth-straight nod for Olson, something that’s never been done across both the men’s and women’s squads.
Teammate Maesyn Thiesen took home second team All-NSIC honors and coach Mandy Pearson was crowned NSIC coach of the year.
Drew Blair was named to All NSIC first team and Charlie Katona landed on the second team. This is Blair’s fourth time making an appearance on an All-Conference squad, this being his second time residing on the First Team.
