Dave Kontny retires after 16 years of coaching Superior basketball

After 16 years of coaching Superior hoops, girl’s basketball head coach Dave Kontny is hanging up this whistle.
He retires after coaching exactly 500 games, finishing with a career record of 325 wins and 175 losses.
Kontny first served as the Spartan boy’s varsity coach. In 2011 he led them to their first sectional championship since 1974.
He then took over the girls’ program, this year leading them to a 21-3 overall record.
In all he has spent 37 years coaching basketball at various levels.
