Adofo-Mensah hired as general manager of the Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have hired a new general manager. Hubbard Broadcasting sister-station, KSTP has confirmed after ESPN first reported Wednesday that the Vikings have hired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as their new general manager.

Adofo-Mensah was previously the Cleveland Browns’ Vice President of football operations.

The Vikings had narrowed in on Adofo-Mensah Tuesday after another finalist took a job with the Chicago Bears.

ESPN’s senior NFL insider, Adam Schefter tweeted the news early Wednesday, saying "The two sides reached agreement this morning on a new deal that give the Vikings their new GM."

The Vikings fired general manager Rick Spielman at the close of a disappointing 2021 regular season that resulted in an 8-9 record and the team missing the playoffs for the third time in four seasons.

Spielman had joined the organization in 2006 and was promoted to general manager in 2012. Over his 10-year stretch as GM, the Vikings accomplished an 87-72-2 record, four playoff appearances and two NFC North championships.
