An upcoming concert will benefit AICHO‘s Dabinoo’Igan Emergency Domestic Violence Shelter.
Erik Koskinen, Annie Humphrey, and Keith Secola will play the “One Community, Many Voices, Stop the Silence” show at the Norshor Theatre on Thursday, April 6.
Legal advocate Deanna Reder and Humphrey visited The Lift to share about the difference this concert can make.
“Dabinoo’Igan Domestic Violence Shelter, it literally translates into a place where you’re safe, comforted, and sheltered,” Reder said.
AICHO provides 30 days of shelter, outreach services, legal advocacy and more during someone’s stay at the shelter.
“I was homeless for six months with my two little kids,” Humphrey said. “And it’s really hard to not be settled anywhere. So 30 days of rest would have been really much needed.”
Funds raised will help AICHO expand the shelter from 10 to 24 beds. Reder said it is full “99.9% of the time.”
“In 2021, we were only able to serve about 490 unique individuals but yet turn away close to 200,” she said.
The Ordean Foundation is partnering with AICHO on the concert.
Tickets cost between $20-60 and can be bought through the Norshor Theatre.
