Light snow is expected in mainly north-central Minnesota beginning late tonight and early Wednesday morning. A general one to three inches of snow is expected west of a line from Aitkin to International Falls by Thursday morning. Not much snow is expected east of this line. The north shore may see some light flurries that will be on and off again. The biggest threat for heavier snow arrives later Thursday into Friday. A winter storm may track south of MN and WI Thursday night into Friday morning and bring light to moderate snow to southern reaches of the Northland.
Moderate impacts from this snow are most likely in east-central Minnesota and much of inland northwest Wisconsin. This will likely impact travel late Thursday and Friday if heading down to the Minnesota State Boys Hockey Tournament. The Twin Cities is already under a Winter Storm Watch for this period. Winds will by rather high too, blowing a lot of snow around reducing visibilities. More light snow along with windy conditions are likely this weekend, especially Sunday into Monday.
