Justin Liles: Winter storm this weekend

A slow moving system will bring accumulating snow through the weekend. Snow moves in from the west on Saturday morning and ends from west to east on Sunday into Sunday night. Snow totals of 6 inches or more are expected across a large portion of the area. Accumulations of 12 inches or more are likely for the North Shore from Lutsen to Duluth. Lake-effect snow will lead to enhanced accumulations.

Snow accumulations of 8 inches or more are expected along the South Shore from Ashland County to Douglas County. Higher amounts exceeding 12 inches will be possible in the Bayfield Peninsula. The other problem with this next round of snow will be the breezy conditions. This will likely create terrible travel late Saturday night into Sunday. Snow. High near 31. Blustery, with a northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
