Man charged in burglaries in Makinen area
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s office says a 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with multiple cabin burglaries in the unorganized township 57-16 in the Makinen Area. According to a release from the Sheriff’s Department, Deputies were called to a cabin on Lost Lake Road on March 5. The cabin owner told authorities he saw a man arrive on a green snowmobile on his security camera. The poperty owner said the man allegedly broke into sheds on the property.
Police say Jory Christian Sirjord was arrested later in the evening after fleeing from Sheriff’s Deputies. According to the release, Deputies and Investigators followed the snowmobile tracks and located multiple other buildings, sheds and cabins burglarized in the area. They say Sirjord was arrested when his snowmobile became stuck in a ditch.
Sirjord has been charged on Monday with burglary, fleeing and theft charges.
Police say the green snowmobile used in the incident was stolen from a property in the area and the Sheriff’s Office is still searching for another snowmobile that was taken, a 2005 Arctic Cat Firecat, black edition.
