Justin Liles: Breezy weekend and milder by Sunday

Snow will continue to linger through the evening. As a low departs to the east northerly flow has taken over. This will lead to heavier snowfall amounts along the south shore. The U.P. of Michigan may see nearly 10” or more in the higher terrain through Saturday afternoon. Wrap around moisture from the low will likely work its way across the Northland this evening. This may actually produce some brief heavy snows or snow squalls. Visibilities under these squalls can be dangerous.

Please be advised if traveling this evening, especially through St. Louis, Lake, and Cook counties. Winds will stick around through the weekend but temperatures will climb closer to normal on Sunday. We will once again be watching a prolonged weather maker for the middle to end of next week. Rain and snow is likely with the new storm next week. Right now, it’s way too early to make a call on snowfall amounts.
