After spending 10 years as the head coach of the Grand Rapids girl’s basketball team, Kris Hamling is hanging up her whistle. The school announced on Thursday that she is stepping down from her post.
In that decade she led the Thunderhawks to six state tournaments, including this year, and a third-place finish in 2018. She also holds multiple coach of the year honors. Overall she spent 26 years coaching at grand rapids.
“I’m coming to the end of my era here and I really want to focus on being a mom and a parent and just watching the two girls and I’lll never ever get that back again of them playing together. Heaven has only one more year left and with Taryn first year coming there it’s something special “
Hamling’s oldest daughter Heaven is a senior guard at North Dakota State University, and daughter Taryn will be joining her sister there next season.
