Sabrina Ullman: Winds strengthen; S. Shore snow continues

With a strong low-pressure system lingering over Michigan, snow along the South Shore will continue tonight through Monday. Additional accumulations will be over six inches in some areas from Ashland County to the U.P.

Additionally, the windy conditions we have been dealing with all day will continue. Wind speeds will increase tonight into Monday morning, with gusts up to 55 mph.

Near-critical fire weather is possible for Koochiching and Itasca County Monday and Tuesday because of the wind and dry conditions.

Temperatures will warm to the low sixties Wednesday before decreasing back to the fifties. Snow melt could increase the flood risk again, particularly for the U.P. and areas near the Tyler Forks River.

Tonight

A chance of rain before 10pm, then a chance of snow between 10pm and 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Windy, with a north wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Windy, with a north wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.

Sunny, with a high near 51. Windy, with a north wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
