Suspicious death investigation in Deer River

Officials in Itasca County are investigating a suspicious death in Deer River.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on the 500 block of 4th Street SE early Tuesday morning, where they were performing a welfare check. Upon arrival, deputies found a man dead inside the home.

The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office says there is no immediate threat to the public, and the investigation remains ongoing. More details will be released when the victim’s family has been notified, and after an autopsy has been performed.
