Elite Grandma’s Marathon runners talk ahead of 47th race

The Grandma’s Marathon pre-race conference took place on Friday before the WIlliam A. Irvin 5k.
Allowing the elite runners, including last years first place finisher Dominic Ondoro of Kenya to talk towards what the race means to him.
“This is Grandma’s and my family is super happy and also my team because of what the achievement that we make together,” stated Ondoro
Last years win marked Ondoro’s third Grandma’s victory, his first since 2015, finishing with a time of 2:09:34.
On the women’s side of things the back-to-back defending champion Dakotah Lindwurm, returns to Grandma’s looking for the three-peat after last year finishing with a personal best of 2:25:01.
“This race always feels like coming home. There’s something about Grandma’s that I can’t replicate anywhere else. I have fun, I’m relaxed and it just feels like running in my hometown even though I’m not a hometown person. A lot of the lake views that you get, it keeps my mind composed and running a smart race. Then when I need it, when I need the crowd, they’re there for me at the finish,” said Lindwurm.
The Minnesota native shaved over four minutes off her first place finish two years ago, while at tomorrows race Lindwurm can become the just the third women to win three straight Grandma’s Marathon titles.
