Loch Café & Games is brings the worlds of coffee and gaming together in Duluth’s East Hillside, following a business model made popular in big cities like the Twin Cities.
Located just off 4th Street at 318 N 18th Ave E, Loch Café is now a space for board gamers to come together. Co-Owner Erin Glesner says, “A lot of the community didn’t have anywhere to go, that on top of COVID everything kind of moved on to online gaming. So we are hoping that this more middle ground area will help bridge that gap for the community.”
Loch is also hosting special game days for D&D, Magic: The Gathering, and more. You can check out what they have scheduled on their Facebook page.
The coffee side of things is also references nerd culture. As a Pokémon fan herself, Erin has taken the liberty of naming the coffee drinks after few Pokémon from the Eeveelution line.
Erin also has a had a long connection with coffee saying, “My dad and I used to go out every week and have coffee dates, so I grew up around coffee, I got a barista job when I was in college, it’s like why don’t we put the two together.”
