Retiring teachers and staffers enjoy a day out on the train tracks

Teachers can hardly be defined in one or two words. They shape our minds from our early years and on up.

On Tuesday, several members of the Duluth Public Schools system enjoyed an outing with a train ride up the North Shore. The PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) has been putting on this train ride for retiring teachers and staffers for a few years now, and today marked the fourth year of the event.

The president of the organization shared how important it is to show support for everything these teachers and staffers do and have done over the years.

“The community really loves honoring teachers; we know how important they are to the Duluth community. Really everyone steps up to want to do something special for them and thank them; they really appreciate it too. They do special things for our kids every day and were really honored that we can do something special for them today,” said PTSA Council President and Depot Employee Stacey Deroche.

Participants were even able to bring one guest with them today to make chugging up the Northshore even more fun.
