City of Duluth hosts second meeting for West Superior Street Project

City of Duluth officials hosted their second public meeting Tuesday night to discuss the West Superior Street reconstruction project. The meeting was hosted at Clyde Iron Works and focused on the concepts of the project as well as getting more public feedback. The project provides a unique opportunity to fully reconstruct 1.65 miles of West Superior Street and the aging utilities below it. City officials also say that the project is a chance to redefine this corridor, build a unique sense of place and enhance connectivity and safety for people of all ages, abilities, and incomes.

Much of the project is funded by the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity or RAISE Discretionary Grant program. The program aims to provide an opportunity for the Federal Department of Transportation to invest in road, rail, transit, and port projects that promise to achieve national objectives. The RAISE program will be funding new features such as Full Reconstruction of the Roadway and Utilities, ADA Accessible Sidewalks, Protected Bike Facilities and Bike Parking and more.
