Sabrina Ullman: Skies clearing in time for fireworks

Thanks to expansive cloud coverage, the threat for severe weather has diminished for tonight. We could have some strong thunderstorms with pea-sized hail, but nothing severe is expected. Passing showers are still likely as this system slowly moves eastward.

In the 8-11 pm timeframe, rain is likely for Burnett, Washburn, and Sawyer Counties. A few passing showers are possible for Douglas, Ashland, Bayfield, Iron, and Gogebic Counties as well as Koochiching and Beltrami Counties. Areas in-between are looking dry during peak firework time, including the Iron Range and the Twin Ports.

Wednesday morning will have a few lingering showers in the Arrowhead and east of the Bayfield Peninsula. We then stay dry for a few days. Rain chances return late Friday night, with rain likely this weekend.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
