After an undefeated regular season Duluth FC erupted scoring five straight goals in their playoff-opening 5-1 victory over the Minnesota Twinstars Wednesday.
That outing propelled the now 12-0-1 BlueGreens to the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) North Conference Championship against reigning champs Med City FC Saturday in Duluth.
In their two regular season meetings the matches were close, with Duluth winning the first 1-0 at home and the second ending as a 1-1 draw.
“Obviously well versed against them this year, we have a number of guys that have been here, this will be their second summer. So they have four or five games against Med City under the belt already. Typically kind of know what to expect at this point. Expect them to to be very well organized as they have been all year, try and hit us on the counterattack so we are preparing for that,” said head coach Sean Morgan.
Kick-off Saturday is at 7 p.m. at Walt Hunting Stadium (Previously Public Schools Stadium).
