A hot stretch begins today and takes us through Thursday with the warmest parts of the Northland topping off in the 90s each day. Be sure to hydrate and keep a close eye on pets and children. Lakeside areas will benefit slightly by a light lake breeze today and tomorrow. By Thursday, a west wind should spread the warmth down the hill in the Twin Ports. A cold front passes Thursday night to pave the way for a more comfortable stretch Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Near-surface smoke is finally pushed to the north today, but higher temps and dew points arrive from the south. Muggy weather is with us today, tonight, and tomorrow with dew points in mid-60s to low 70s. That moisture will fuel shower and thunderstorm chances that sag southward across northern Minnesota today. An isolated storm may produce 1” hail and 60 mph winds north of Duluth. Rain becomes more widespread overnight into Wednesday morning. A low chance for showers and storms lingers Wednesday and Thursday, with a better chance following the cold front Thursday night.
