Spirit Valley Days brings excitement to West Duluth this week

The fun gets underway at the 43rd Spirit Valley Days in West Duluth on Thursday, August 3 through Saturday, August 5. Celebrate the community with your family and friends. There is an exciting lineup of entertainment and activities for people of all ages.
Thursday, August 3rd
8 AM – 4 PM: School Supply Drive at Western National Bank
4 PM: Miss West Duluth Pageant at Mr. D’s
4:30 PM – 8 PM: American Legion Burgers & Dogs
6 PM – 7 PM: Parade on Grand Ave.
Friday, August 4th
7 AM – 12 PM: Pancake Breakfast at American Legion
9:30 AM: Gopher Golf Classic at Nemadji Golf Course
4 PM – 7 PM: Car, Bike & Big Rig Show on Grand Ave.
5 PM – 6:30 PM: Fish Fry at American Legion
Saturday, August 5th
9 AM – 11 AM: The Western Garden Tour at Norton Park

According to the Duluth Police Department, there will be numerous traffic changes due to Spirit Valley Days. The public needs to be aware of detours, no parking areas, and Officers directing traffic.
The Spirit Valley Days Parade in West Duluth will start at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, resulting in street closures on 59th Ave W, Grand Ave and on Central Ave from 5:30 p.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m.
Street closures, detours, and parking restrictions from the Duluth Police Department:
Spirit Valley Days Parade, Thursday, August 3:
On Thursday, August 3, starting at 4:30 p.m., 59th Ave W between Raleigh St and Grand Ave will close to allow parade units to line up. The parade route will close at 5:30 p.m., and the parade will begin at 6 p.m. Streets will re-open by approximately 7:30 p.m., upon the conclusion of the parade.
All arriving parade units should go to 59th Ave W and Raleigh St to line-up.
The parade route heads east on Grand Avenue, from 59th Ave. W to Central Ave., south on Central Ave. to Ramsey St., and head east. The parade units will leave before Mike Colalillo Drive.
- All avenues and exits onto Grand between 59th Ave W and Central Ave will close during the parade.
- No parking will be allowed on either side of Grand Ave along the parade route, on 59th Ave W from Raleigh St to Grand Ave., on Central Ave from Grand Ave to Ramsey St, and on Ramsey St from Central Ave to Mike Colalillo Drive.
“No Parking” signs will be posted along these routes. Vehicles in violation will be tagged and towed.
Spirit Valley Days Car Show, Friday, August 4th:
- On Friday, August 4th, starting at 3 p.m., Grand Ave between 59th Ave W to Central Ave will close for the car show. The car show will end at 7 p.m., and the streets will re-open by approximately 7:30 p.m.
- No parking will be allowed on either side of Grand Ave between 59th Ave W to Central Ave.
Spirit Valley Days Craft and Vendor Show, Saturday, August 5th:
- On Saturday, August 5th, starting at 8 a.m., Grand Ave between 59th Ave W to Central Ave will close for the Craft and Vendor show. The Craft and Vendor show will end at 3 p.m., and the streets will re-open by approximately 3:30 p.m.
- No parking will be allowed on either side of Grand Ave between 59th Ave W to Central Ave.
Detours and Busing:
During the Spirit Valley Days Parade the following detours for traffic and DTA buses will be in place:
- Eastbound traffic on Grand Ave will be detoured north on 59th Ave W toward Cody St and Eighth St.
- Westbound traffic on Grand Ave will be detoured north on Central Ave toward Cody St and Eighth St.
- DTA Buses will use Cody St as a detour. Westbound buses will turn up Central Ave and travel west on Cody to 59th Ave W
- Eastbound buses will turn up 59th Ave W to Cody St and travel east to Central Ave.
Motorists should be alert to detours, no parking areas, and Officers directing traffic.
