The Duluth campus of the University of Minnesota Medical School and College of Pharmacy hosted their annual Scrubs camp on Wednesday. Over 30 kids from the Arrowhead region were invited to attend. The purpose of the event was to allow kids the opportunity to explore career options in the health sciences field. The high school students got hands-on insight into the medical field and got to experiment with a variety of lab equipment like microscopes, slides, specimens, along with simulation mannequins and surgery tools.
Scrubs Camp first started back in 2008 and was first created by HealthForce Minnesota. They are usually hosted on college campuses and partner with healthcare providers that are local to that campus to teach students. Overall, students can learn about a variety of different job options including Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Biomedical Engineering, and more.
