Right now, Memorial Blood Centers are offering a “Pint for a Pint.” Blood donors who give a pint of blood will get a voucher for a discounted or free pint at a local brewery.
“The breweries in our region, they’re great partners,” Phil Losacker with Memorial Blood Centers said. “They encourage people to donate blood. In fact, some of them hold blood drives at their facilities.”
In the Northland, breweries involved include Bent Paddle, Castle Danger, Rapids Brewing, and Klockow.
“They have a sense of community responsibility as do many, many businesses,” Losacker said. “They’re happy to participate in whatever way they can. Certainly those four breweries have been great partners in the past and we hope they’ll continue to be so in the future.”
Losacker said summer is a challenging time for blood donation because regular donors may be busy or out of town and there aren’t any high school or college blood drives.
People can learn more about Pint for a Pint and make an appointment to give here. The incentive is available now through Sept. 10.
