John Buresh from Charity’s season of the Bachelorette (season 20), lives in New York as a data scientist, but originally grew up in the state of Minnesota.
John said that his run was a totally new experience, and even though he went home in the 4th week he still got the chance to meet a bunch of amazing people.
“I mean, one of the best experiences of my life,” says John, “I mean, I’m always a person who wants to see discomfort, try something new. And there’s nothing more uncomfortable than being completely vulnerable in front of hundreds of people.”
He said he didn’t overdo his preparation heading into the 20th season of the show.
Referring to the advice he received on set he says, “just like, be yourself, be [your] authentic self, because you don’t want to have the bachelorette fall in love with a façade. This is an actual thing. You’ll actually get engaged at the end of this. And if that’s not who you are, then what’s the point?”
John says growing up in Excelsior he was a shy kid, but has now grown into the man that he is. And mostly got inspired by his sister to join Bachelorette history.
“It’s my sister’s favorite show of all time,” says John, “She watched every single season of The Bachelor, all 20 of The Bachelorette, and she’s like, You should definitely do this. I’ll help you with everything.”
Although John B.’s sister wasn’t there to help him with the Barbie themed group date. Where the men dressed up in Ken’s outfits. John B. tried his best but got the most outlandish outfit… Birthday Suit Ken.
He says, “I was trying to go for a different one. We all rushed to get one and I’m surrounded by D1 athletes… and there was just no way, I started out in the back too… I went for it and got pushed out of the way. And as soon as I put my hands up to grab something, it was gone… And I think it was I think I made it the best I could.”
John B. says if you are ever in a position to be on the show just allow yourself to step out of your comfort zone and be your true authentic self.
