Duluth Public Schools will again invite kids and families to Bayfront Park for an evening of fun and resources with Unity in Our Community.
Assistant Superintendent Anthony Bonds said last year, the first time the district did this, they saw around 4,000 people come through.
“Students really enjoyed it,” he said. “We had many students who would comment that they had never been to Bayfront, and we were happy about giving them the opportunity and that experience.”
The goal is to bring students and families back together, especially post-pandemic and after a summer off.
There will be arts and crafts, bounce houses, a dunk tank, and more than 80 vendors. There’s also a backpack giveaway supported by the Family Freedom Center and Cirrus Aircraft. And maurices will give away jeans and T-shirts.
“We have amazing students. We have amazing staff. And like anything else, a strong community has strong schools, and we want everybody to come out and support our schools,” Bonds said.
Unity in Our Community goes from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Bayfront Festival Park. Everything is free.
