BARKO Hydraulics celebrates 60 years in business, collaborates with Earth Rider on a beer

BARKO Hydraulics has been in business making forestry equipment for 60 years now.

They started in Canal Park, before it was a tourist area, and then moved to Superior in the 1970s.

“Unlike many of our competitors, we specialize in logging equipment. They made the very first hydraulically powered knuckleboom loader,” explained Parnell Thill, the marketing manager.

Company leaders are proud of the continued progress, and the six-decade milestone.

BARKO’s president, Justin Rubar, said, “The 60th anniversary really energized the people in the company. They’re all excited. It’s it’s a legacy brand and a really an iconic brand in the forestry industry. And it truly is because of the people that work here at BARKO. We control all the design and build every product right out of the Superior shop that’s shipped all over the country.”

And now you can now enjoy the BARKO Logger Lager, which is a collaboration with Earth Rider for the 60th anniversary.

It was Joey Cummings idea, when he was drinking a beer at Earth Rider.

“We’re a logging company and breweries make lagers. So I thought to be pretty cool if we could partner up and they could make us a BARKO Logger Lager,” he said. It’s available for a limited time at the Earth Rider taproom.

Tim Nelson, from Earth Rider, told us, “We’ve been really excited to be a part of that whole celebration. The north end of Superior here on Tower Avenue is a special place.”
