It’s the last weekend before Labor Day, so let’s make the most of it!
Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival
It’s the Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival on Barkers Island. There are opening ceremonies Friday night, and the races start at 8:30 Saturday morning. There will be live music in the Barkers Island Bandshell most of the day Saturday. The event supports 23rd Veteran.
Running the Rapids
Saturday is also Running the Rapids in Grand Rapids. There is a relay, 5k, and half marathon. Cheer on the runners starting at 7 a.m. Saturday. Races start and finish in Portage Park.
National Cinema Day
Sunday is National Cinema Day. Marcus Theaters have lots of deals and discounts. You can see any movie on any screen for $4. They’ll also have $3 fountain drinks, hot dogs and Sam Adams beer. You can buy tickets ahead of time.
