Cooler conditions arrive today and tonight, then a warming trend takes us through the rest of the week to set the stage for a hot Labor Day weekend. A passing cold front is responsible for morning clouds and spotty showers from the north. Highs in the Northland range from mid-60s to mid-70s. A north wind develops out of the east with Lake Superior keeping shoreline communities in the 60s. High pressure moving in clears skies through the day. Tonight will be cool with most areas in the 40s and even some upper 30s. Areas of fog may set up to impact visibility for the Wednesday morning commute. Tomorrow will be sunny and comfortable as we begin our warming trend with highs in the 70s.
There isn’t much opportunity for widespread rain in the current forecast. North central Minnesota may see a few showers and thunderstorms Thursday evening which would try to hold form as they move across the Arrowhead overnight into early Friday morning. We should stay generally dry for your Labor Day weekend plans with heat as the main contender. Highs will be in mid to upper 80s Saturday with mid-80s to mid-90s on Sunday and Monday.
