Tonight will have clear skies and overnight lows in the 60s to low 70s. A few showers are possible in the International Falls area.
Most of the Northland will start out with sunny skies Tuesday, but an incoming cold front will bring a return of rain chances. Areas in Koochiching and Itasca Counties will start having rain at around 10 am. From there, the system will expand eastward, reaching the Twin Ports by 2 pm and becoming widespread by evening rush hour.
Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon to evening hours. Heavy rain, winds up to 70 mph, hail up to 1.5”, and a tornado or two are in the realm of possibility. Rainfall amounts will be in the 0.25-0.75” range for most of the area with higher amounts possible within thunderstorms.
Afternoon highs on Tuesday will be in the 80s to low 90s. Some light rain is likely Wednesday, but the good news is that it will feel like September. Starting Wednesday, afternoon highs will be in the 60s and 70s for the rest of the week.
