So many businesses call Duluth home, whether it was started here or a chain that expanded into the Northland. Well, a local company has decided to expand in its current location and offer something new to the community and its customers.
Monday was a special day for Duluth Coffee Company as they introduced the community of the Northland, customers, and the community to Duluth Coffee Kitchen, a full-service kitchen.
Just next door to its coffee company business, they have a new restaurant and full menu. The former Coney Island spot on Superior Street in downtown Duluth will feature farm-to-table food.
“It’s been something that we’ve been talking about for a few years now, is going more into the brunch and adding food offerings to the coffee that we already serve. It’s always been an easy conversation for us to talk about, like the farmers that produce our coffee and connecting with them a world away. We’ve really wanted to be able to work with local farmers,” said Sam Levar, General Manager at Duluth Coffee Company.
The company has served the community for many years with coffee, pastries, and quick-to-go options. Levar shared that he hopes that the new kitchen will continue to be a part of the cornerstone beacon activity on the horizon.
“We’ve always been a cornerstone in downtown Duluth for the past 10 years we’ve been roasting coffee. It’s been something, a spectacle, a public spectacle. People can stop by and see the roasting process happen. So, for the past ten years, we’ve kind of been that sort of a beacon of activity for downtown, and offering this additional space is going to expand on that.”
Duluth Coffee Kitchen will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
