This year’s National Assisted Living Week will run from Monday September 11th to Friday the 15th. ‘Season of Reflection’ is this year’s theme, a time for residents, families, staff, and volunteers, to celebrate the individuals who live and work in assisted living.
The week is a special time to take an additional chance to recognize and thank those who create a welcoming, loving home. This year’s theme is about renewal as seen in the changing season. Which is why the Benedictine Living Community will be celebrating with a week-long calendar of events.
They started with the Patriotic Day celebration at Westwood on St. Scholastica campus. The Wellness Director, Tracy Pavalatos says it all about creating better sense of community between the residents and staff.
“We have different events happening, like are you smarter than a fifth grader where we have the staff versus the residents. This is to create a kind of camaraderie we have a special build your own omelet bar for the staff, we’re doing prize giveaways and different things so that they can get involved and have more of a sense of community and not just on that caring piece of it.”
Benedictine Living Community – Duluth offers a wide variety of services ranging from independent living, assisted living, memory care, adult day services, short-term rehabilitation, home health and long-term skilled nursing care.
The celebration ends on Friday with a Oktoberfest themed cocktail party.
