UMD men’s hockey transitions Nicklin from volunteer to paid position

The University of Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey program has taken advantage of the NCAA’s new rule allowing for three paid assistant coaches.

On Friday, the Bulldogs made an announcement that they’ve elevated volunteer goalie coach Brant Nicklin to that third paid position.

Nicklin has been a volunteer with the Bulldog men’s team since 2014. Prior to that he served as the UMD’s women’s goalie coach from 2009 to 2014 and worked with the College of St. Scholastica..

This new move comes after the NCAA voted to eliminate the volunteer coach designation across Division I in January.
