UMD football rotating quarterbacks to build up pocket

Typically focusing on playing one or even two quarterbacks a game, the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team had five different athletes taking snaps in last Saturday’s 42-35 loss to Bemidji State University.

Despite the pocket rotations, and final score, running back Cazz Martin managed to find success.

"Make it work every play you know, all of our quarterbacks are capable of doing the job," Martin said. "John [Larson] is outstanding of course, but all our quarterbacks [are] able to do the same job for me. When I get the ball it’s my [offensive] lineman blocking for me, so if I keep them guys and receivers and tight ends healthy that’s good."

Martin posted his third 100 plus rushing yards game of the season.

As for the quarterback move, head coach Curt Wiese said he hopes the reps and depth will help in the long run.

The Bulldogs (6-2) will look to rebound at Minot State University on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1pm.
