Brandon Weatherz: The chill sticks around

Our Monday is off to a frosty start with temps beginning in upper 20s to mid-30s. Allow time to clear the windshield before hitting the road. The weather pattern we were in over the weekend persists with little change for the first few days of the workweek, allowing for more of the same with generally quiet and seasonably cool conditions.
Highs today range from mid-40s east to mid-50s west accompanied by a breezy north northwest wind. Cloud cover gradually increases from the east through the day, then we keep mostly cloudy skies overnight. This will keep temps a touch milder than this morning, but frost is still possible with lows ranging from low to upper 30s. Tuesday then remains cloudier with a similar spread in temperatures.
The clouds encroaching from the east today will bring the chance for light rain to the South Shore and into the Arrowhead. These areas are where we keep occasional light rain chances tonight and Tuesday. Winds developing out of the east will direct lake effect rain chances along the North Shore and for the Head of Lake Superior come Wednesday night, Thursday, and Friday.
As for widespread rain, there is a potential system that could bring wet weather to the Northland Thursday night through Friday night. There is still disagreement in how far north this system will track. Strong lake winds will also be possible with this system, allowing waves to build by Friday. That system moves east on Saturday with northwest Wisconsin and the South Shore holding the best chance for weekend rain.
