Leader of Cleveland-Cliffs takes home top honors

The leader of Cleveland-Cliffs has been named CEO of the Year at the annual S&P Global Platts Global Metals Award ceremony in London.

In a statement, Lourenco Goncalves said, "It is especially a great honor and recognition to be named CEO/Chairperson of the Year among my industry peers."

The company also took home Metals Company of the Year and Deal of the Year.

"2020 was a transformative and extraordinary year for Cleveland-Cliffs with the acquisitions of two major steel companies and the start up of our state-of-the-art direct reduction plant," Goncalves added.

Goncalves was just in the Northland two weeks ago, delivering the keynote address at the Laurentian Chamber Dinner.
