There was a lot of the color pink on a local volleyball court last week when the Superior High School girl’s volleyball team hosted their Dig Pink game.

They went head to head with Duluth East, but this time it wasn’t to move up in the high school volleyball standings, it was for another reason. The event was to help raise money to support local breast cancer patients.

There was a silent auction, raffle baskets, bake sale and t-shirt sales, all to demonstrate support for people battling breast cancer, and to raise awareness regarding the importance prevention and education about the disease.

“Superior has always been wonderful in their events and support of St. Luke’s,” Megan Avery said. “It was an incredible night. Everyone was so generous, simply amazing. Donations were given, people participated in the sales and silent auction and had lots of fun.”

The volleyball game was a good one between the Superior girls and the Duluth East girls, and Avery said the effort was a huge success.

In total, the game and related activities raised over 8-thousand dollars for St. Luke’s regional cancer center.
