A summer of smoke filled skies has been difficult for everyone, but especially those with Asthma like Amy Flessert of Superior.
“I have felt a little short of breath,” Flessert said. "What helps me is having all the windows shut and as many fans as possible blowing on full blast."
Deanna Keller of Duluth has also been feeling the impact of poor air quality.
“I pay close attention. I watch for alerts and then take action,” Keller said.
Keller said getting plenty of rest and staying hydrated helps. She has also worn a mask at times to combat the heavy smoke.
“I’ve been limiting my time outdoors. If I do have to go out, I do put on an N-95 mask,” Keller said.
Both women recommend keeping an inhaler on you at all times.
“I keep one in my car, I keep one by my bed, I keep one by my desk, I keep one in my purse,” Keller said.
They also say a nebulizer can work wonders.
All of this is on top of having a good support system.
“Another thing that has really helped me is having a workplace that is really accommodating towards me with my asthma,” Flessert said.
The women add that talking to your doctor about your Asthma is also important.
