University of Minnesota professor hikes for a good cause

A University of Minnesota professor took to hiking around the Northland for a good cause. Dr. Matthew Hunt, of the University of Minnesota Medical School began his six-week, 350-mile trek on September 6^th near Ely, MN and Kekekabic, Border Route and Superior Hiking Trails before ending at the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth on Thursday afternoon.

Dr. Hunt says that a part of his journey was to help raise money for two charities: Glenn Garcelon Foundation and Humor to Fight the Tumor. These charities support brain tumor research and patients. Each organization helps patients with brain tumors on their difficult path. Dr. Hunt also states that an important part of his work is to help these patients through parts of their journey.

Dr. Hunt is a member of the Masonic Cancer Center and a neurosurgeon at M Physicians and M Health Fairview.
