UMD alums Perunovich, Welinski sign new NHL deals

Two more University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey alums have inked new NHL deals.

The St. Louis Blues have resigned 2020 Hobey Baker winner Scott Perunovich to a one-year, two-way contract. The defenseman put up 10 points with the Blues last season, including four in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and 22 points with their AHL affiliate the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Additionally, former Bulldog captain and Duluth native Andy Welinski signed a one-year deal with the New York Islanders. He spent last season with the Calgary Flames organization, posting four goals and 21 assists with the AHL’s Stockton Heat.
