The three major formats for physical media for movies and television are DVD, Blu-ray, and UHD.

DVD is a standard definition format, Blu-ray is a high definition format, and UHD is a 4k format that is the highest quality the average consumer can get in their home.

Streamed content can be labeled as “4K”, but it is hindered by buffering, compression, and banding, whereas physical media is not limited by those issues and will provide the highest quality image and color depth.

Physical media also allows ownership. Streaming services can remove movies and shows, but a physical disc can’t be taken away.

Streaming is also limited by what is available on the platforms. Netflix, for example, does not currently feature a single Hollywood from before the 1950s. Film history can be found on physical media with movies from the 1800s to today available–many on Blu-ray and UHD featuring 4k restorations.
